Host families and Spanish Program

Associated with the formal Spanish Language programs we offer “homestay”,   during which students live with local families. After classes, students have the opportunity to practice Spanish with their families in an informal setting while simultaneously experiencing the culture more thoroughly.

Our host families try to immerse the student with the warmth and kindness of our people. You will have the chance to become accustomed to the typical dishes of Costa Rica. Though if a special diet is needed, they are more than willing to help.

The host families try to involved the student in their activities but if the students have their own plans or routines, feel free to do it in Costa Rica. The host families will understand. Our host families are open minded and outgoing people. Understand Costa Ricans are happy to see tourists willing to discover more about their country.

All of our families either live close by, walking distance, or students may have to take a bus or an Uber to get to ILERI Spanish School. Our host families are located in Escazú: Escazú center, San Rafael de Escazú, Corazón de Jesús, Bello Horizonte, San Antonio and Guachipelín. All are beautiful districts of Escazú.

The first day of classes the host mother will take the student to the school in order to become familiar of the route to ILERI Spanish School.

When the students go back to the host families, they will return by themselves unless they are not yet comfortable with their route back home.

The first day of classes the school gives the rules of the family and/or put a list of rules in clear view.

When the program is finished, the student can continue with the family if not booked with another student. The student cannot pay directly to the host family, only through the School.

The host family gives the student two meals a day

(Breakfast/Dinner) and laundry service.

If the student needs to change the host family, we give the opportunity to try another one. The most important thing is to feel comfortable with his /her wonderful experience in Costa Rica.
